libapp-info-perl software package provides module to provide metadata about software packages installed, you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install libapp-info-perl
libapp-info-perl is installed in your system.
Make ensure the libapp-info-perl package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep libapp-info-perl *
You will get with libapp-info-perl package name, version, architecture and description in a table
